Bailey Bridge Introduction
The Bailey bridge was invented by British engineer Donald West Bailey in 1938 for war. A Bailey bridge is a kind of bridge made of welded modular panels and parts. It is also called the Bailey truss bridge because of the steel truss construction structure. The components are single pieces and very light in weight so that a bailey bridge can be assembled and transported easily. A Bailey truss bridge is suitable for various spans and loads. As for the configuration, there are SS(Single-Single), DS(Double-Single), TS(Triple-Single), DD(Double-Double), TD(Triple-Double), SSR(Single-Single-Reinforced), DSR (Double-Double-Reinforced), etc. multiple types.
Application

The 321-Type Bailey bridge is a bridge that can be quickly built due to its simple structure. The design rules follow the British Compact-100 Bailey Bridge. The components of the bridge are prefabricated with high-tensile strength steel. All the components are single parts which leads to easy interchange. The assembly or disassembly is also simple. Combine the parts with different numbers and layers to get the desired span length and load requirement. Based on convenience and easiness, it is extremely suitable to facilitate temporary and emergency transportation. The 321-type (CB100) Bailey bridge is mainly applied when the requested bridge span or load is small.

The 200-type panel bridge is designed to provide a wider range of load and span. Compared to the 321-type, the panel height is increased to 2.134m. By placing alternated joints between Reinforcement Chords against the joints between panels, inelastic deformation because of oversized pinholes can be decreased. At the same time, a pre-arch method greatly reduced mid-span and vertical deflection. The orienting sleeve-fixing method of bolt-connected segments not only improves the connection accuracy but also creates shear and tension resistance. As a result, the lifespan of the bolts is extended and the safety of panel bridges is guaranteed. The wind-resistant brace is made into an all-in-one piece type and is connected to the transom to improve the overall stability of panel bridges. The part between the braced frame and panels is fixed through bridging to prevent the whole bridge from side bending. A pre-arched degree throughout the bridge is formed after the bridge’s erection. 200-type Bailey bridge is suitable for the load designs of HS-15, HS-20, HS-25, HL-93 and pedrail-50 etc.
